Medical aspects

During the pre-procedure consultation the doctor performing the procedure will inform you in detail about the type of procedure, its purpose, its expected course, the anaesthesia used, and the possible complications and side effects. This is the moment to ask any questions you may have.

Please make sure that the results of the laboratory tests ordered for you are no more than ten days old. Discussing the results with your doctor in advance helps to avoid a situation in which the procedure cannot be carried out on the planned date.

Once the tests have been carried out and you have received the results, please send them by e-mail to:

Patients who have been referred, because of their state of health, for consultation with other specialists, for example a cardiologist or an endocrinologist, are asked to provide those opinions in writing.

• The final price of a planned urological or aesthetic medicine procedure is always agreed individually during the consultation. The price agreed at the consultation covers the procedure itself and the post-procedure follow-up appointments.

Advance payment

Once the price has been agreed with the doctor performing the procedure, reception will arrange the date of the procedure with you and the method of paying the advance, which amounts to 20 per cent of the value of the procedure. The deadline for payment is:

• two days, if the procedure is scheduled within the next fifteen days;
• seven days, if the procedure is scheduled within the next thirty days;
• fourteen days, if the procedure is scheduled more than thirty days after booking.
• If the advance is not paid within the applicable deadline, the Centre is entitled to cancel the previously scheduled procedure. Payment of the advance secures your chosen date.
• The advance is not refundable where the procedure cannot take place for reasons attributable to the patient, in particular:

incomplete results of the laboratory tests ordered;

poor state of health not confirmed by a medical certificate;

failure to pay the full fee for the procedure;

cancellation of the scheduled date by the patient less than seven days before the agreed date of the procedure.

Full payment for the procedure

The procedure can be carried out only once payment has been made in full beforehand. Payment may be made immediately before the procedure at the reception of the Centre, or earlier by bank transfer.

If you pay by transfer shortly before the scheduled date, please bring confirmation of the payment with you.

• Please come for the procedure fasting, having had nothing to eat or drink for at least four hours.

• On the day of a urological or aesthetic medicine procedure we also ask you to:

• take all the medicines you take regularly, for example those for high blood pressure, unless agreed otherwise at the pre-procedure consultation;

• take any additional medicines prescribed at the pre-procedure consultation;

• wear comfortable, loose clothing and flat shoes; garments put on over the head are best avoided;

not apply body lotion to the areas of the body concerned by the procedure;

leave jewellery at home;

Please do not drink alcohol for at least three days before anaesthesia. Many medicines used in anaesthesia interact unfavourably even with small amounts of alcohol.

The journey home and the first night after the procedure should take place under the care of an adult. The effect of anaesthetic medicines on the body rules out staying alone.

On the day of the procedure

• Before the procedure there will be a short conversation with the doctor performing it, to recall what was agreed at the pre-procedure consultation and to clarify any remaining questions.

Once the formalities have been completed, that is the pre-operative consultation, signing the consent form and the financial arrangements, you will be taken to the patient rest room.

What to bring

• A nurse or doctor will measure your temperature, blood pressure, pulse and weight. They will also explain what to expect in the procedure room and how to prepare for it.

• You will be taken to the procedure room accompanied by a nurse or doctor.

After the procedure

• Patients must feel generally well and be able to move independently without dizziness or nausea.

• Patients may not go home before the further course of action has been agreed, the medicines needed in the post-operative period have been prescribed, and they have been given a card with telephone numbers for contact.

• Important: for the first twenty-four hours after the procedure patients should not:

• drive vehicles;

• take significant decisions, and in particular sign documents of a legal nature, as concentration may be impaired by the medicines administered;

cook or use electrical or mechanical tools;

drink alcohol;
