Centre for Hormonal Disorders in Women after
COVID-19
Our centre focuses on the treatment of hormonal and metabolic disturbance following SARS-CoV-2 infection.
In some women who develop mood disturbance, anxiety, fatigue, sleep difficulties, chest pain or muscle pain after COVID-19, hormonal and metabolic changes are found.
One explanation described in the literature is that the virus binds to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptors, which are present in large numbers on ovarian cells. This binding may disturb the function of the ovaries.
These symptoms can be difficult to diagnose because they often overlap with those typical of the perimenopausal period.
Treatment is selected individually, on the basis of hormonal test results and the clinical picture.
Our approach focuses on restoring hormonal and metabolic balance.
If you have noticed any of these symptoms after COVID-19, such as chronic fatigue, mood disturbance, headaches or changes in your menstrual cycle, it is worth discussing them with a doctor.
